music sc3n3

It seems to be a huge topic these days. Whether it be about WLB being a horrible booking agency, or how memphis has the worst turnouts to shows, or how there is no all ages venues except maybe 1 or 2, or maybe because we just never get decent bands to come through. So many people will constantly bitch and complain about how shitty everything is, yet they do nothing about it. Not saying I'm out there busting my ass, but there has been opportunitys for our "muscial scene" to grow. One huge example is the venue "The Dregs" it was shut down because of a lot of reasons, mainly money issues. So many people "loved" it, yet they barely attended shows. A lot of kid's parents wouldn't let them go. Well if you're a "die hard" music scene lover, then fucking dis-obey your parents one time and stop sucking their tits. Say you're at a friends house, and go to a show, have fun, the money you pay helps keep venues alive. I've gone to many Dregs shows to show my support for the dudes that ran it. I also booked a benifet show (Bring that bump fest) and raised about 400 bucks for them after paying some of the bands. Anyway, to my point. You can bitch about it all you want, you can say WLB is ruining out scene, and they book horrible shows all you want, but you have no room to bitch until YOU start doing something, it takes a lot of money to book shows, and it takes a lot of money to keep a venue alive. Now, there is a few bands out there trying to bring the music back to decent stuff, and a few people trying to bring better music here. Do something for the music in memphis instead of bitching, use money out of your pocket, I've done it countless times for bands/venues. Until then, stop complaining. Secrest out.
